Growing up singing and dancing in San Jose, CA, Katie was surrounded by music from a young age with a variety of influences ranging from jazz to country to musical theater to funk, soul, R’n’B, and hip-hop (to name a few). After her move to Los Angeles in 2001 and performing in a number of SoCal bands, fate saw her cross paths with Astral22 where an instant connection formed leading to several collaborative projects over the last 10+ years. Her songs spark from life experience, strength, vulnerability, hope, loves won and lost, and the ability to continually rise above and overcome any adversity or challenge.
“In an age where so many artists tend toward autotune, effects, and overproduction, I like my songs to be authentic to my actual voice – be it lead or background vocals, harmonies or melodies – and bubble up from the depths of my heart and soul. Performing live for the majority of my life (all but maybe 6 years) in one capacity or another, I want to be able to perform whatever I’ve recorded and do it the same if not better in a live environment. Artists like Garth Brooks, P!nk, Dave Matthews, Sara Bareilles, Fink who deliver amazing recordings followed by spectacular live shows continue to inspire me. Music is my happy place, my soul, the constant that lends a soundtrack to any situation no matter the gravity.”
